Ann Bosley, Past President of CREA
and Toronto Broker:
“More and more, our
clients are picture-oriented rather than word-oriented. The
days of lacklustre photos snapped by realtors may be
numbered. Despite digital cameras, a growing number
of real-estate agents are hiring professional
photographers to showcase properties online"
Richard Silver, a Toronto Realtor:
"Professional shots make sense even for low-end
properties. My sales have gone up by about 25 per
cent in the past two years as a result of using
professional photography. I don’t even put out a
listing without the professional photos."
Adam Waldman, real estate
author:
“All properties can benefit from professional
photography as long as the people will de-clutter
the home, and make it show-ready. “Professional
photos show a room in a way that most Realtors
can’t capture, regardless of whether the home is a
starter home or a mansion.”

Agent X bought a top-rated digital camera for her
real estate business. The camera took good pictures
of the outside of the house but interior photos were
blurry and dark. She considered returning the camera
for another model.
Her co-worker explained that most
cameras are designed for taking snapshots and even
professional photographers need special equipment
and processes to take good pictures of real estate.
Agent X decided to hire a
professional photographer who included free stills
in a virtual tour package. The photographer used a
special wide angle lense and extra flash lighting.
Despite having specialized equipment the bright
ocean view made it necessary to use a professional
technique called "multiple exposure" that ensured a
good shot of the view while maintaining even
lighting of the interior.
The photographer processed the
photos further with adjustments including cropping,
straightening and "levels and curves" resulting in a
magazine quality photograph. Needless to say Agent X
had the very best possible photos for her
advertising and on MLS and quickly sold this
listing. |
